The concept of "smoking mirror" comes from the philosophy of Anawak's people  'El Humo De Su Espejo" The Smoke From Its Mirror" is the closest translation for Teskatlipoka as a perception attribute and identified with an obsidian mirror.

 

Turtle Island Acres.

The 16 acres that they own/steward feature regenerative herb and vegetable garden, a cedar, birch, walnut and sugar maple bush, and a hiking/skiing trail.

Dale Hamilton comes from six generations of farmers and settlers on both sides of her family and lives in "Turtle Island Acres" Dale's experience over 40 years Includes collaborations with indigenous communities and environmental and rural organizations. She holds a Master's from York University Faculty of Environmental Studies, specializing in the arts as a tool for environmental education and social change. She is also past president and member of the Rural Urban Learning  Association.

Kieran Rice grew up on "Turtle Island Acres" and attends the University of Toronto where he is focusing in Indigenous Studies and writes a blog for First Nation House. He is East Coast Salish and a member of the Snuneymuxw First Nation on Vancouver Island. 

His father is (the late)  Coast Salish artist Harold Hyahtsa Rice . From 2019-2021 Kieran was a scholarship student in an Experimental Learning program through York University, during which time he expanded  his interest in regenerative agriculture and indigenous knowledge.

Kieran is also the Indigenous Outreach Coordinator of RULA.

Max Demian Carrillo, native to Cuautla, Morelos (Mexico) from the Nahua tradition,  trained under many Elders from different areas and regions of Mexico. Max continues this lineage of teachings through his own work. He offers Temaskalli (Mexican Sweat Lodge), Toltek Ceremonies, meditations, and walks. He also works with Obsidian stone, Toltek art therapy, and traditional Mexican healing practices. He's been based in Ontario since 2007.
